Reliable, Safe and Convenient

Family Bank customers can now transfer money directly from from their mobile phones through a new service launched by the bank. The service comes after the signing of an agreement with National Payment Services provider-Kenswitch.

The new service, Chapaa chap chap is an innovative product which offers our customers a unique way of improving the quality and reliability of ATM -based ATM money transfer service.

Chapaa Chap enables Family Access card holders(Family Bank ATM Card holders )and customers on Kenswitch network to send money to registered M-Pesa lines using Kenswitch ATM infrastructure

Chapaa chap chap is an ATM money transfer service for the customer who needs to send money through a reliable, fast and convenient solution. Chapaa Chap Chap offers the following benefits:

  • Its safe- Family Bank and Kenswitch and Safaricom have built an elaborate security system, to ensure that the money transfer is safe and guaranteed
  • Its Convenient – It reduces the processes normally involved in sending money to ones M-PESA account
  • It’s Accessible – Family bank has 89 ATMs spread across the country that are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Its reliable – All transactions are traceable with a maximum relay time of 30 minutes.
  • Offers an alternative– It broadens our customers use for our ATM services


Chapaa Chap Chap provides a 24 hour source of M-PESA float and cash for potentially 8 million registered M-PESA subscribers.

Transaction Charges
Ability to send KES 100- KES 35,000 to registered M-pesa lines at a flat fee of (KES 50 above normal)

For example, a family Bank ATM card holder sending KES 10,000 to a registered M-Pesa line using a Family Bank ATM will be charged KES 80 at the ATM.

(This is inclusive of KES 30 normal ATM withdrawal fee and KES 50 surcharge)
