A career banker with over 25 years of experience, David has literally earned his stripes. Starting off as a management trainee at Standard Chartered in 1990 and navigating through senior management roles in marketing, investment management, project management, product and sales innovation, risk management, branch management, training & competency development and business re-engineering. His last role at Barclays Bank included serving as the Head of Secured Lending, Head of Business Banking and Retail Director at Barclays Bank Seychelles.
He joined Family Bank in January 2013, taking on the role of Director, Retail Banking. He is credited with introducing and refining structures that championed the bank’s drive towards customer centric initiatives. David, who has just completed his Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from the University of Liverpool, UK, believes that the foundational business relationships and knowledge that Family Bank has built over the years, with its customers provides the bank with the social license to operate and a pragmatic framework for a growth that is fueled by customer centrism. He cites integrity, accountability and fidelity to structures and systems as critical enablers for sustained success of the bank.
Before embarking on a career in Banking, David trained as a teacher at Kenyatta University where he earned his first degree, Bachelor of Education, B.Ed (Sciences). He credits his early training for his fervent belief in mentorship and coaching. He constantly challenges people to dream beyond their own imagination as he believes anything is possible with focus, purposefulness and resilience. David also holds an MBA (Finance) from the University of Nairobi, Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Marketing Institute of Singapore and a Practitioner Diploma in Executive Coaching from the Academy of Executive Coaching (UK).

Njung’e Kamau is the Finance & Strategy Director of the Bank. He joined the Bank as a Finance Manager and has 24 years extensive local and international professional working experience in Advanced Global Finance,Accounting and Audit. He commenced his career with Ernst & Young, and has worked with Lonrho Africa Plc, East African Breweries Limited and Equity bank where he was the Head of Finance. He holds an MBA in Finance and a B.Com Degree (Accounting Option) from The University of Nairobi. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K) from Strathmore University and a member of ICPAK and ICPSK. He is also a Certified Financial Modeller (CFM) from The International Academy of Financial Management from (Dubai, UAE & Hongkong). The International Banking Summer School (IBSS) in Australia. He is also a graduate of Advanced Management Programme (AMP) from Strathmore University, Lagos University and IESE – Barcelona, Spain University.
Rebecca was appointed Company Secretary & Head of Legal in January 2015.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Masters in Business Administration from United States International University. She is a Certified Public Secretary and a Certified Public Accountant.
Rebecca has over fourteen years’ experience in legal and Company Secretarial practice both as an advocate and also at top management level in two large organizations. She served as Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs in Kenya Tea Development Agency Ltd for four years before joining Rift Valley Railways as the Company Secretary and Legal Counsel for five years. She has vast experience in corporate governance and has served in the Corporate Governance and Standards Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries Kenya.
Tirus Mutoru joined Family Bank in April 2016. Prior to this appointment Tirus worked at HF Group.
He has over 10 years in information technology management overseeing technological direction, proposing budgets for programs and projects, purchases and upgrades of equipment, supervising computer specialists and IT workers, and presiding over IT-related projects.
He has also worked at Cooperative Bank of Kenya, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ecobank Ltd. He holds a Masters and Bachelors (Hons) degrees in Computer Science.
He also holds several certifications among them; Oracle Certified Professional, Project Management Professional, Cisco Certified Network Associate, Certified Information Systems Auditor. He is a member of ISACA.
Daniel Waihenya is the Director Operations & Logistics of the Bank. He joined the bank in April 2014 as the Head of Procurement and Property Management.
He holds a BSC in Business Administration Finance option from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA and an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale Arizona, USA.
He is an entrepreneur and professional with 15 years of experience in corporate finance, operations and strategy in the energy, consulting, manufacturing, media, real estate and banking industries.
He has a wealth of experience gained from several institutions locally and internationally. He has worked with Kenya Dental Laboratory Nairobi, Westinghouse Electric Corp Pittsburgh, PA, Deloitte & Touch- Pittsburgh, PA, Kimberly Clark East Africa, Nation Media Group and Coldstone Investment Limited.
Roseanne was appointed as the Head of Treasury in December 2013.
She oversees the Asset and Liability Management function of the bank and also ensures that all related risks are managed adequately in all the trading activities so as to achieve the set revenues. She has over 10 years in financial and asset liability management having served as the ALM head at Ecobank (K) Ltd and as Head of Treasury at Equatorial Commercial Bank. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant (K).
Caroline Gichuru was appointed Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Family bank in August 2015. She has 15 years marketing experience mainly in the telecommunications sector.
Carole mastered advertising at TBWA\Creative Nairobi then moved to Uganda to set up of Redsky Uganda another advertising agency handling Uganda Telecom as Group Account Director. In January 2009 she moved to Warid Telecom as Brand Manager and in July 2010 moved to Safaricom Ltd where she contributed to the growth of the brand for 5 years under various capacities including Senior Manager – Advertising and Senior Manager – Brand Specialist.
In 2004 while at TBWA\creative she team-led conceptualization of MOVE at NIC which was a game-changer in banking. At Redsky Uganda, she pioneered in launching the new corporate ID for Uganda Telecom and at Safaricom Ltd, she pioneered documentation of the Safaricom brand guidelines. Carol has an executive MBA from USIU and a BA degree from the University of Nairobi.
John Kamara is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPA-K) in addition to being a holder of Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi.
He has over 17 years of working experience spanning across Finance, Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance. He started his career at Family Finance Building Society before moving to Fidelity Commercial Bank as Financial Controller then Oriental Commercial Bank as Head of Risk and Compliance and later rejoined Family Bank as Head of Internal Audit. In year 2014, he was seconded to Kenya Orient Insurance Company as Head of Finance for close to two years before moving back to Family Bank as Head of Risk and Compliance in May 2014.
James Karinga joined Family Bank in October 2007 as a Credit Manager. He rose through the ranks to become the Head of Credit where he is tasked with offering departmental strategic leadership.
Karinga was instrumental in the strategy formulation and development of SME banking unit from inception to the current levels where it is a strategic unit within the Bank. Prior to that he had developed the Asset Finance product from the ground-up, propelling its growth to a KES 9 billion loan book over the period he was Head of Asset Finance.
He has also been instrumental in developing a robust and clear credit framework to support the lending function of the Bank.
Karinga holds an MBA in Strategic Management from University of Nairobi and a Degree in Bachelor of Arts in Economics, from the same University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA K).
He is uniquely positioned to offer 16 years of progressive experience in commercial banking, with senior-management accountabilities in Asset Finance, SME, Banking and Overall Credit Management.
Mr. Kiptum joined Family Bank in 2011 and has an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Commerce degree holder, Marketing major from the University of Nairobi and also holds a Diploma in Management Information Systems (IMIS) from the Institute for the Management of Information Systems – UK. He was admitted Licentiate Member of IMIS-UK.
His experience in banking spans over 10 years having previously worked in Senior Retail Banking Management, Direct Sales and Branch Management with Barclays Bank, KCB-Bank and Credit Bank. His last appointment prior to taking over as Head of Channels was Head of Consumer Banking, a role he successfully executed for three years with Family Bank.
Through the course of his career, Mr. Kiptum has been recognized and commended for his strategic thinking, innovative business development initiatives, knowledge of tech-based financial solutions as well as his unique ability to network and develop key business relationships.
Dipesh joined Family Bank Ltd in October 2009 as the Bancassurance Manager.
Dipesh has a wealth of experience in the Insurance Business. Prior to joining Family Bank, he was the Head of Bancassurance Jubilee Insurance Company of Kenya, Offshore Manager, and Personal Financial Advisor at Old Mutual Kenya.
He is a holder of an MBA from Strathmore University, Nairobi and a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
Ruth Murage was appointed Head of Institutional Banking & Cash Management in August 2011.
Ruth is a seasoned banker with over 12 years working experience in Liability management. She started her career at Co-operative Bank of Kenya as a graduate trainee then moved up the ladder to Operations, Customer Service, Marketing, Brand Analysis and Institutional Banking and Liability Management.
Her last assignment prior to joining Family Bank was at the KCB Group where she was a Senior Corporate Relationship Manager in Institutional Banking.
Ruth holds a Master of International Business Administration (Strategic Management) USIU-A, BA (Economics & Government) UoN. She is also a member of the Kenya Institute of Bankers.
She has attended several courses in Leadership, Client Relationship Management, Marketing of Financial Services and Financial Negotiations.
