Rebecca Mbithi
Chief Executive Officer
Rebecca Mbithi was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in 2019. She has been instrumental in developing a niche and placing emphasis on positioning Family Bank as an SME Bank.
Under Ms. Mbithi’s leadership, the Bank was recognized, in 2021, for being one of the top 25 Brands transforming lives in Kenya and the best overall Bank in digital experience and customer satisfaction after a customer survey conducted by Kenya Bankers Association. She is a recipient of the African CEO of the Year commendation award by the African Business Leadership awards 2021. She was also recognized as one of the Top 25 CEOs making an impact in Kenya 2021 and was ranked among the Top 100 women CEOs in Africa 2022.
She is a seasoned professional and a respected lawyer with an extensive leadership background in various organizations. Ms. Mbithi previously served as the Company Secretary & Director of Legal Services a role she took up in 2015. This experience proceeded her work at Kenya Tea Development Agencies (KTDA), where she served as Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs and at Rift Valley Railways where she also served as Company Secretary & Legal Counsel.
Ms. Mbithi holds an MBA with a concentration in Strategic Management from the United States International University and an LLB degree from the University of Nairobi. She is a CPA and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, a Certified Secretary and a Member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries ICPS (K), an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya. She is also a Certified Executive Coach and has attended various courses including Executive Leadership at Strathmore Business School.
She is the current sitting Vice Chairperson of the Kenya Bankers Association and also a Board Trustee of The Family Group Foundation, a sustainability vehicle of the Bank.
