Family Bank\u2019s sustainability agenda revolves around building a sustainable banking business and investing in the communities in which we conduct our business with the main objective of contributing positively to Kenya\u2019s economy and transforming the lives of people. Family Bank is able to accomplish this through its philanthropic arm -Family Group Foundation- that brings together Kenya Orient Insurance, Daykio Plantations and Alpha Africa Asset Managers.<\/p>\n
It is in line with this, through the Trees for Life Initiative that seeks to combat climate change through afforestation, that the Foundation planted 1000 trees at Baba Dogo Primary School in partnership with the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).<\/p>\n
\u201cFamily Group Foundation is honored to be part of this great initiative of planting trees which is also in line with the government\u2019s initiative of afforestation that targets ten per cent forest cover across the country. We take pride in supporting key sectors in the Kenyan economy including education, health and entrepreneurship,\u2019\u2019 said Family Group Foundation Executive Director, Muema Muindi.<\/p>\n
Baba Dogo Primary School Head Teacher Mr. Wainaina welcomed the initiative noting that the school will ensure the trees are well taken care of.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going to make sure that at least 98% of these trees survive to maturity as this is the best way we can appreciate the effort by Family Group Foundation and its partners. Our school is also privileged to have been picked for such a great cause,\u201d said Mr. Wainaina.<\/p>\n
The Foundation planted native plants in the school that require low maintenance and also are easily adaptable to local environments.<\/p>\n
The Trees for Life Initiative planted 1000 trees in Machakos County in 2018. The Foundation seeks to plant 6000 trees by the end of 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
