Ms. Nancy Njau

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director

Nancy Njau is an astute and seasoned banker with over 22 years of extensive experience in strategic leadership, agile business transformation, building high-performance teams, client solutions innovation, growth acceleration, assets and liabilities management, credit management, sales, customer service, coaching, training and mentorship.

Prior to her appointment as Family Bank Chief Executive Officer, Nancy served as the Chief Commercial Officer. Having begun her career at the Bank as a Management Trainee, she has since served in numerous instrumental positions including Chief Officer- Public Sector Banking, Head of Strategic Partnerships, Head of Retail Banking, and Regional Manager- Rift and Western Kenya and Nairobi Central Business District.

Given her vast expertise, she has garnered numerous certifications. She is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, Certified Executive Leadership Coach through CDI Africa and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program from Strathmore University Business School, CEIBS Business School in Accra, Ghana, and IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. As a transformative leader she also holds various certifications in diverse disciplines such as coaching, customer experience and performance management.

Nancy holds a Masters of Business Administration in Strategic Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option) from Kenyatta University and a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management. She is also an active member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM), and the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM).

Her passion, commitment to excellence and team-driven approach has been instrumental in creating a customer-centric culture within the Bank, driving business growth and profitability, and ensuring exceptional customer experience.

Belinda Maghanga

Chief Operations Officer

Belinda Maghanga is the Chief Operations Officer, bringing over 18 years of distinguished experience in business development and strategic management to this role. She has built vast expertise spanning specialized functions in Business Development, Operations, risk management, Credit, customer experience, and relationship management. Prior to her current role, Belinda served the Bank as a Senior Relationship Manager - Public Sector. 

Belinda launched her career at Family Bank as a Customer Service Officer, and steadily progressed through various roles in Operations Management, Branch and Regional Management in Retail Banking across Nairobi and the Coast Regions, eventually serving as the Bank’s Head of Operations where she was charged with driving operational efficiency, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and significantly improving productivity and customer satisfaction. She also gained significant experience as a Business Development Manager at the National Bank of Kenya before returning to Family Bank. 

Belinda holds an MBA in International Business Management and a B.Ed.(Arts) in Business Studies and Economics both from the University of Nairobi. Further, she is a graduate of the Transformative Leadership Program from Daystar University and holds a Coaching Certificate in Solution-Focused Essentials from Erickson Coaching International - an affiliate of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). 

Elijah Kariuki

Chief Transformation Officer

• Elijah Kariuki is currently the Chief Transformation Officer at Family Bank Limited pending CBK Approvals. He was appointed to this role effective 1st March 2025.

Dynamic and results-driven People and Transformation Leader with over 17 years of experience in banking, human capital management, and organizational change. Proven ability to drive strategic transformation initiatives, optimize workforce capabilities, and foster high-performance cultures aligned with business objectives. Adept at leading large-scale change programs, talent management, employee engagement, and transformation to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. He has extensive exposure to leadership and transformation programs. A visionary leader passionate about coaching, mentorship, and culture change for sustainable business growth.

Elijah started his career at Family Bank Ltd as an Intern in the ICT Department before rising through the ranks to serve in different capacities as an ICT Officer, Operations Officer in Trade Finance, HR Officer, Senior HR Officer, HR Assistant Manager, HR Manager, Senior Human Resource Business Partner, Head of HR then Chief Human Resource Officer a position he held for 7 years.

Elijah holds a bachelor's degree in human resource management from Kenyatta University. He is a Certified Human Resource Practitioner CHRP(K), Certified Executive Leadership Coach (CELC), and a Certified Trustee (TDPK). He holds a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management and a certificate in counselling from the College of Human Resource Management. He is an alumna of the prestigious global Advanced Management Programme (AMP) from Strathmore University Business School, CEIBS Business School in Ghana, and IESE Business School in Spain. He is undertaking an MBA with Strathmore University.

Mr. Eric Murai

Company Secretary and Chief Legal Officer

Eric is an experienced in-house counsel and corporate governance professional, having previously worked as the Assistant Company Secretary at Britam Holdings Plc and as Legal Counsel at Standard Chartered Bank Kenya. He has vast experience in banking and finance law, corporate finance projects, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.

He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a member of the Law Society of Kenya and the Institute of Certified Secretaries, and a certified professional mediator. He was appointed Company Secretary and Head of Legal Services in October 2019.

Eric holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) and a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) from the University of Nairobi and a BSc. in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has attended the prestigious Advanced Management Programme at Strathmore Business School.

Paul Ngaragari

Chief Finance Officer

Paul Ngaragari is a distinguished finance expert and the Chief Finance Officer at Family Bank. He brings over 18 years of diverse experience in the financial sector, spanning Kenya and other African markets.

Prior to his current role, Paul served as the Bank's Chief Internal Auditor for three years. He has held key positions across capital markets, banking, general and life insurance, fund management, and both stock and insurance brokerage firms. His career includes roles at leading local and international institutions such as the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), Britam, KCB, and Stanbic, both in Kenya and at the Group level.

Paul is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) —Kenya Chapter. He is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and a Certified Executive Leadership Coach through CDI Africa. He holds a Master of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Nairobi.

Phyllis Kimani

Chief Retail Officer

Phyllis Kimani is a seasoned financial and business expert with over 18 years of experience specializing in operations and business strategy. As the Chief Retail Officer at Family Bank, Phyllis demonstrates her exceptional leadership and strategic vision daily.

Phyllis holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a major in Mathematics and Economics from Moi University and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Strategic Management at Kenyatta University. She is a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme from Strathmore University Business School, CEIBS Business School in Accra, Ghana, and IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. Additionally, she is a Certified Executive Leadership Coach, accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) through CDI Africa.

Renowned for her proficiency in transformative leadership, capacity building, SME relationship management, and banking law and practice, Phyllis is passionate about mentoring emerging leaders. She is also dedicated to creating lasting and sustainable impact in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and Agri-SME sectors.

Carlpeter Ngunuh

Carlpeter Ngunuh is Family Bank's Chief Information Officer. He is a distinguished IT professional with over 25 years of experience cultivating technological excellence within Family Bank.

Carlpeter's unwavering dedication to the bank's technological evolution has positioned him as a leader possessing unparalleled institutional knowledge and a strategic vision for digital transformation. His expertise encompasses a comprehensive understanding of core banking systems, cybersecurity frameworks, and the ever-changing landscape of FinTech.

Carlpeter holds Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi.

Veronica Muthara

Chief Credit Officer

Veronica Muthara is the Bank’s Chief Credit Officer. She has accumulated over 14 years’ worth of experience in Banking. Prior to her career at Family Bank, Veronica worked at National Bank where she started her career as an operations officer and then joined Credit as a Credit Officer cum Credit Analyst. Veronica joined Family Bank as an Assitant Manager in Credit and rose through the ranks in Credit to head the Credit Analysis Unit as a Senior Manager and Interim Chief Credit Officer.
Veronica holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree in Strategic Management from JKUAT, a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Major Economics and minor Sociology from Kenyatta University. She also holds a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management and a certificate in counselling from the College of Human Resource Management. These are backed by professional trainings and certification in areas of Leadership, Credit Risk Management, Problem Loan Management, Debt Recovery, Advanced SME and Corporate Analysis, SME Relationship Management, Customer Service among others

John Wachiuri

Chief Risk Officer

John Wachiuri is a multi-faceted seasoned banker with over 20 years’ experience in internal audit, compliance reviews, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, control self-assessments, internal controls, financial controls, fraud risk assessments, investigations, value for money audits and business performance reviews.

Prior to his appointment as the Chief Risk Officer in 2021, he served as the Head of Audit at Family Bank. John commenced his career at Equity Bank, where he worked as an Internal Auditor and a Credit Administrator. Given his expansive career, John has also worked in different capacities such as Head of Internal Audit and Head of Compliance Function at Bank of Africa, Finance Officer at Credit Bank, Senior Internal Auditor at the East African Development Bank based in Uganda and Head of Internal Audit at the Competition Authority of Kenya where he set up the Internal Audit department. He has also worked as a Finance, Management, and Auditing lecturer at Strathmore University within the School of Accountancy.

Wachiuri is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Executive Leadership Coach through CDI Africa. He is also a Certified Trustee through the College of Insurance. John holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the United States International University and a Bachelor of Education Degree (Business Studies and Economics) from Kenyatta University.

He is also an active member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Additionally, John is an accredited Integrity Assurance Officer by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), designated trainer of trainers in Corporate Governance by the Centre of Corporate Governance and has undertaken a Project Finance course through Euro Money.

Poised as a leader committed to continuous improvement, John has been instrumental in setting up risk and compliance departments and designing internal audit departments using a risk-based methodology as well as offering valuable recommendations and strategic insights to Management and Boards of the various institutions that he has worked with. He is also committed to developing talent through continuous coaching and mentoring.

Bildard Fwamba

Chief Internal Auditor

Bildard Fwamba is a well-versed audit and finance professional with over 25 years of experience in internal auditing, financial management and regulatory oversight. Prior to joining Family Bank, Bildard served as the Group Chief Internal Auditor at Equity Group Holdings Plc. He also previously held several leadership positions at Equity Bank, including General Manager – Internal Audit, General Manager – Finance, Head of Internal Audit and Compliance Manager. Bildard began his career at Britam before joining the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) where he served for 6 years in the Bank Supervision Department, before joining Equity Bank in 2004.

He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Kenya Chapter. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Kenyatta University. Renowned for his integrity, strategic insight, and technical acumen, Bildard brings a wealth of expertise in financial governance and risk oversight, making him a valuable addition to Family Bank’s leadership team.
